Big Red is an obvious name when you see this 6’5” 300 lb., massive structure.
When he steps behind the turntables you don’t know whether to be intimidated
by his size or his talent.

This producer / re-mixer / DJ, began his musical journey at age 5 in Detroit, MI
where he started drum lessons and since has went on to play saxophone,
keyboards and turntables. With early influences such as The Electrifying Mojo,
The Wizard “Jeff Mills” and Chicago’s Hotmix Five, along with Quincy Jones,
Dr. Dre, Stevie Wonder and Luke it is easy to see how his rated XXX funky
style comes about.

By 1985 Detroit’s dance scene was in full swing and Red, along with childhood
friend Craig Adams (DJ Assault), struck it head on rocking local parties and
performing at talent shows. In the 90’s he took his talents to Atlanta, Ga
where he picked up on the Miami Bass scene. In 1995 big red was back in
Detroit doing his thing. He and childhood friend Craig Adams started a group
named Assault & Battery and signed to a local record label, which would change
their lives. While signed to the record company ran by Cliff Thomas (legendary
techno music promoter), the group made their transformation from rappers to
the booty scene.

Big Red spent the late 90’s working in Atlanta, Ga as producer/re-mixer/DJ for
such names as Too Short, Eric Sermon, etc., while renovating the booty shake
scene via Atlanta radio stations 107.9 and 103.3 FM. In 2003 Big Red and
childhood friend DJ Assault pulled their resources together to start a new record
label named Jefferson Ave. Since releasing “The Red Dawn E.P.” in 2004 Big
Red has started his own record label Big World Entertainment a label dedicated
to the future of urban dance music.

Big Red represents the history and future of urban dance music and during a gig
you will hear anything from booty to bass to techno to house to hip hop, even
R&B all mixed together at a high-speed booty - shakin' pace, his creative genius
is endless. “When the mood hits I just go with it and I’m usually not wrong.
My main objective is to have fun and keep asses on the floor and that’s what I
will continue to do all over the world!!!”
